  1. A Hairstylist and Makeup Artist: Ladies!!! Yes, I am a hair and makeup artist, BUT, if my career wasn’t important, I wouldn’t be here. Your beauty artist is HANDS DOWN, the most important part of your beauty budget! Finding an artist (or artists) who can successfully complete the glam look and style you’re looking for, while bumping your confidence level past 100 is just a no brainer when planning your big event! Not only is it the best time for you to be pampered and sit while professional hands enhance you to look your best, but most also offer full glam teams, to also bring your entire party or event up a glam level!! Take the time to do the research, look through the site, chat with them on the phone, book a trial as needed. It’s worth it! You decorate the venue and the style the invite, take some time to enhance yourself as well!

  2. Hair Extensions: You can read more in depth about on my thoughts on how important hair extensions are here. But the short version of it is; Hair Extensions (I always recommend the Clip In kind) are 100 worth the budget! They not only add the extra volume and potential length, but also the confidence to your style. Hair has always been labeled your best accessory and referred to as a woman’s crown. Working with what you’ve got is doable, but with the extra hair comes the extra body… and long, voluminous hair has always been a sign of youth, beauty, and health!

  3. Tanning: That gorgeous summer glow, that lit from within! No matter the season, there is always an acceptable shade that you need for your best day!! Not only does is turn you into a visual goddess, but tanning can also help you appear healthier and more active! Tanning comes in many forms, but my best recommendation is a spray tan (to keep that skin health at the forefront!). Bronzing the skin really does bring up the seduction level and gives a beautiful, complete body look for your best event!

  4. Teeth Whitening & Eye Drops: This may seem like an odd mix, but I promise, this one packs a punch. All makeup artists edit their photos. They do, I own it, they should own it. You can’t really see a photo these days that hasn’t been edited a little bit. And yet almost every time, the only two things that I tweak in all of my photos is whitening the teeth a shade or two and whitening the eye balls of my client. JUST those two and OH my goodness, she’s gone from Sheryl from Torrance to SHERYL, the California Babe who is Ready for that Red Carpet Moment!! It makes the biggest difference, and this one really can be quite affordable. My most affordable finds are Crest Whitestrips and Bausch & Lomb’s Lumify Eye Drops!! Their are more upscale versions and I invite you to do your own research on what is best for you!!

  5. Facial: Lastly, but certainly not least, facials. Makeup is only as good as the face you put it on. Texture and skin health are the 2 most important factors when it comes to a gorgeous makeup application. When either of those have issues, it affects the final outcome and look of the makeup. Texture will always show through, no matter how much you apply, and skin health will always affect how the make up lays and lasts through the day. Facials are an excellent way to boost circulation, address skin specifics, and bring an overall hydration and refresh to the skin!

Tips on a great facial experience: Always speak with a facialist before booking any services and never book an intense facial or procedure before your event (All corrective procedures can be discussed and performed at a later time post-event). You’re looking for something to help compliment your skin and bring out it’s best! Start facials early in the event/wedding planning process, this allows your skin to know the products and weed out anything that might cause issues. I recommend keeping the products and routines consistent to your norm 2 weeks out, and absolutely nothing new the week before the big event.

And there you have it, my top 5 most worth-it beauty things to splurge on!! And here I finish with my shameless offer of hairstyling and make up services for your next event! Not only do you have both a hair and makeup artist in one, but I also offer an talented glam team for all of my larger parties! I am happy to offer my services for events of all kind and weddings! Best!

-Ruth
