Should I get lash extensions for my wedding or event?

Should I get lash extensions for my wedding or event? I hear it now and again with my brides. Are they a gift from above? Some might say so… But let’s ask a makeup artist! Lash extensions are great for the everyday. You woke up like this! I get it. Glamming faces has definitely filled me in on the time it takes to look great on the everyday level. But when it comes to those special moment; those moments we spend months planning for and countless dollars on, the answer is no. Lash extensions are not preferred by makeup artists. Why might you ask?

  1. Incomplete eye look. When doing makeup for a lovely lady with lash extensions it is more difficult to get into the little crevices between lashes to fill in with line for that perfect clean liner look. The unreachable spots leave little light areas in & under the lash line that negate a professionally polished look.

  2. Lashes may be too heavy/not right style for the desired look. Unless you’re walking into your lash lady’s office with the photo of your wedding day/event makeup look your lashes may come out very different than the style of eye makeup desired for the day.

  3. Keeping the lashes for after the wedding/event. Lash extensions are on the more costlier side of beauty products options. Most ladies like to keep their lashes for after the event (and into the honeymoon for brides). This prohibits artists from applying mascara, which upgrades and completes the look. It also can prohibit tight lining or any liner for some clients.

To keep our blog post short here, my professional recommendation is to skip the lash extensions for your event/wedding day and opt for a temporary set on the event day or choose a product like “Latisse” or something similar to amp up your daily look leading up to and following the event. Your makeup artist thanks you.

As always, I would love to be apart of your event or wedding! Until then, wishing you the best!
