Freevee “Jury Duty”’s Maria Russell
No doubt you’ve at least heard the buzz of Freevee’s newest show, Jury Duty! This show follows an unassuming voluntary participant in what he’s been told is a documentary about jury duty, into a court room set up with actors and a fake case! This makes a sensational comedy for viewers, with Jury Duty being one of the most talked about shows for the last few weeks, even getting their favorite share of memes on Instagram and TikTok!! We love to laugh and roll our eyes at the characters, but today I want to talk about Inez de Leon, or Maria Russell in real life!!
Maria and I met 6-7 years ago! I was interested in learning Salsa Dancing, and one of Maria’s many talents is dance!! She’s been dancing since she was young and enjoys teaching others the moves! Maria soon found out I was a hairstyling and makeup artist, and we became fast friends after that. She would call me for services she would need for red carpets, appearances, or an important night out; and through the years we’ve worked together many many times collab-ing on many different looks!!
When Maria got the call that she was booked for the Jury Duty cast, she was so excited (as you could expect!)!! When filming began, we scheduled service times as early as 5am many days of the week!! Those multiple weeks were pretty brutal time wise, getting up before that 5am hour always is, but it paid off! Not only is there enormous buzz about the show, but everyones begging for a Season 2!!
Maria is a sweetheart and a great client!! It’s been such a pleasure working with her these past years!! Here’s to many more looks and great moments!! (And crossing our fingers for an Emmy for Jury Duty!!)
